The company
Passionate, curious, and innovative are a few words that describe our people. We are powering the future, connecting communities, and igniting innovation. Orion owns and operates the electricity distribution network that provides power to central Canterbury. As the third largest electricity distribution network in New Zealand, we cover remote rural areas, regional towns, and the city of Christchurch.
We are an essential service and take our responsibilities seriously. We are community owned and working here means a career with meaning and purpose that makes a difference in your very own neighbourhood.
The role
Some people thrive on having one big project to focus on. Others love being across everything, keeping track of what's happening, what's coming next, what needs following up and making sure nothing slips through the cracks. If that sounds like you, this could be a great role.
We're looking for a Connections Project Coordinator to help keep a growing portfolio of customer connection projects organised and moving. You'll support everything from day-to-day project coordination through to reporting, financial administration, documentation and process improvement - including for some of the larger and more complex connection projects coming through our pipeline.
No two days will look quite the same. You might be pulling together a project update, chasing an outstanding action, coordinating information across teams, getting our reporting into shape or figuring out a better way of doing something. It's a role for someone who likes being in the middle of things and gets real satisfaction from keeping everything moving.
You'll:
Keep projects organised, information current and actions moving
Coordinate people and inputs from across Connections, Portfolio, Delivery and Finance
Help develop reporting, dashboards and performance information
Keep on top of invoicing, purchase orders, time recording and project costs
Make sure project records and documentation are accurate and easy to find
Spot gaps, untangle information and bring structure where it's needed
Look for smarter ways to improve our systems, processes and workflows
About you
You'll be someone who:
Enjoys juggling multiple priorities while keeping an eye on the bigger picture
Is proactive, organised and great at following up to keep things moving
Is comfortable working with data and brings strong reporting skills
Builds relationships easily and enjoys working across different teams
Is a confident problem solver with good judgement, attention to detail and an improvement mindset
Brings a Level 6 Diploma or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant experience, along with experience coordinating or delivering projects
Ideally has experience with Power BI, Dynamics 365 or similar reporting tools, with exposure to utilities, infrastructure, construction or another regulated environment a bonus
