The role

Making sure we get things right is critical to our success, who we are and what we do, our community relies on it. If you have expert knowledge of an underground network, where quality world-class work is top of your list, then this is the role for you.

Orion are looking for a Quality Assurance Coordinator (Underground) to plan and implement audits and inspections of contracted work for newly installed underground distribution assets, this is crucial to ensure we comply with our standards and design specifications. You'll work closely with service providers and contractors where you work will make a real impact on the reliability and safety of our electricity network.


  • Manage customer relationships, enquiries and expectations by providing guidance and consultation through the delivery process

  • Conduct assessments of technical connections ensuring outcomes are compliant

  • Complete reactive work providing safe outcomes for customers

  • Minimise risks created by customer driven construction or decommission work

About you


  • 3 years' experience in a similar role or environment (infrastructure, energy, utilities or construction) with a New Zealand Electrical registration or equivalent

  • A good working knowledge of electricity networks

  • Ability to make robust decisions with strong communication skills

  • An understanding of the NZ Regulatory environment, in particular the Electricity Authority - Code of Compliance

  • A high level of attention to detail, computer skills and a customer centric approach
